John Romero has just congratulated Doom guru Zero Master on discovering the last hidden secret of Doom II, some 24 years after it was released. A secret that had previously been thought impossible to actually find.
Prepare to put your Doom Pedantry Hat on for this one, because the secret has been known, and considered a bug.
“It is normally impossible to register secret #4, as the secret sector in question (sector 147) is located adjacent to the raised teleport pad and is only 16 units wide. This setup completely prevents the player from touching this sector’s floor (as is required to trigger a secret), because upon crossing the sector’s boundary they are immediately raised onto the pad and teleport away. Therefore, the maximum SECRETS percentage one can ordinarily get on this map is 90%.”
Unless it turns out, you get pushed into it by a demon. Jump to 3 mins in the video below to see the rather uneventful moment occur:
Zero Master explained why the bug meant it was considered impossible saying, “In other words, a secret can only be triggered if doomguys center is within the secret area and if he is on the same height as the secret sector. The second being impossible because doomguy is always lifted up to the teleporter floor height when his center is either exactly on or over the secret sector.” But, it turns out, tricking a pain elemental into helping you out gets around this. ZM continues,
“This trick has something to do with the moving door and the pain elemental spawning a lost soul on top of you. This forces you down to the lowest floor the moving door is on, which puts you within the secret sector and on the same height, thus triggering the secret.”
Doom’s co-creator John Romero took to Twitter to congratulate Zero Master on this saying,
Secret explained: A secret teleporter is marked as a discoverable 'secret', but when you touch it, you never enter the sector. So you would never get inside the teleporter sector to trigger the secret. The only way to trigger this secret is to be pushed by an enemy into it! #doom

So there it is. Just shy of 24 years since the game was released, finally all the secrets have been successfully discovered without the use of noclip. An incredibly niche thing to be sure, but you know, it’s testament to the absolutely pivotal importance of Doom to all of PC gaming history, that it took three decades to see the game possible to 100%.
Doom is one of the most popular shooter games of all time, and it spawned an equally excellent sequel. It's up to you to exterminate a cadre of dangerous demons, and sometimes that can be hard if it's just you and your shotgun. It doesn't have to be, though. You can load up on cheat codes here to level the playing field.
If you're playing Doom 2 and needing some background info on the original game, It’s estimated that Doom was the most installed piece of software in 1995. The game was installed on more computers than even Microsoft’s Windows 95. Microsoft opted to develop a Windows 95 port of Doom to promote the operating system as a gaming platform. On October 30th, 1995, Microsoft presented a promotional video for Windows 95 featuring Bill Gates superimposed into the first level of the game.
As far as some special easter eggs for the game go (if you're looking for that sort of thing anyway), the 21st level in Doom II is called Nirvana, and a shotgun can be found in the first sector of this level. This is possibly a reference to the band Nirvana, whose lead singer Kurt Cobain died from a self-inflicted shotgun blast the same year Doom II was released. This wouldn’t be the only example of a reference to a popular rock band in the Doom series. The first level of Thy Flesh Consumed, Hell Beneath, contains a hidden room with a logo for the band Nine Inch Nails.
Interestingly enough the name Doom actually came from a pretty interesting source that you probably didn't know about. The name “Doom” came from a line in the movie (The Color of Money), where Tom Cruise shows up at a pool hall with a custom pool cue in a case. When asked what’s inside the case, he replies, 'Doom.' The idea to use demons as enemies came up after some of the developers from Id played a campaign of Dungeons and Dragons that ended with demons bursting through a portal and over-running the game.

It's true! You can unlock a special Wolfenstein 3D level within Doom 2, and that's something any self-respecting shooter fan (or a fan of either game) will want to try out. You'll also notice there's a whole lot to be said about not clipping — try that out, and make sure you always try God Mode for a super unique time. Invincible Monsters
If a monster is ever crushed by a door at the exact time an Arch-Vile resurrects it, the monster will become an invincible 'ghost'. This is a very annoying glitch because the 'ghost' can attack you and float through walls! The only way to stop it is to avoid it at all costs.

Killing ghost monsters
If you've managed to encounter a ghost monster and can't kill it, here's how: whip out your rocket launcher or BFG and shoot a nearby wall when the ghost monster is near it. It will be harmed or killed due to splash damage.

First Secret Level
On level 15: Industrial Zone, activate the switch on the pillar in the large lava trench. Next grab the invulnerability in the now open area at the east end of the large lava trench. Finally enter the southwestern most building on the map and take the small lava river south until you find the newly opened branch with the secret exit teleporter. The branch will not be open if you skip the invulnerability!

John Romero's head on a stick
On the final level, turn on clip mode (type 'idclip' during game) and walk towards the final bosses exposed brain. You should enter a small hallway behind the hole to his brain, and see that there is actually John Romero's head on a stick. You deafeat the final boss not by destroying the monsters brain, but by shooting the decapitated head of John Romero

It is very important to know that in this mission you can’t reach the end and then go back for some collectibles because at some point you’ll drop down from the train platform and you’ll not be able to go back. While exploring the Argent Energy Tower mission the most important things to grab are the Elite Guard data chips and the Argent Cell. You’ll also discover a secret room where you can play Halls of the damned map from Doom 1. You can access this bonus map from the main menu. Here’s a video guide detailing how to get them all.In the hangar near the starting point, when you drop down, look for a door on the left. You’ll find a pair of double-jump boots here, as well as a data log on the floor.
When you leave the room, follow the right wall, climb on the crates and jump up onto the ledge to reach a Rune Trial. You’ll have to kill 30 monsters with the Super Shotgun before the time runs out.
